Hoot
Hoot is a wonderfully written book by Carl Hiaasen that is 292 pages long. It is about a gng who tries to save owls that live in Pankake Houses. PAnkake Houses are houses for owls to live in. This is a wonderful book that I recommend a lot.
Criss Cross
Criss Cross, by Lynne Rae Perkins, is 368 pages long. It is definitely a "different" book. It is about a 14 year old girl named Debbie who just wishes to be a different person. Debbie saves a life, learns how to drive shift in a truck (illegally), takes a bus ride just to "feel out of place", meets a boy who is from somewhere else, and mostly hangs out with her friends. It is a wonderful book...but it was confusing at some points, although once I understood it, it was really good.
The True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle
The True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle is a mysterious novel that is 240 pages long. It is written by Avi who is an excellent author. The book is about a 13 year old girl named Charlotte, who is sailing to America to meet her family there. It is a mind blowing book that keeps you wanting to read. When Charlotte discovers that the captain of the ship is a murderer, she is afraid and has to take the chances of being killed and becomes friends with some of the crew mates. It is an amazing book that I recommend everyone to read.

The Call of the Wild
The Call of the Wild, by Jack London, has 164 pages. It is a very sad story about a dog named buck who was kidnapped. Thus story tells about all of the things that happens in his life. From Buck being a sled dog...all the way to him being a mythical Ghost Dog. In the middle of all of this Buck has been through murdurous and cruel places where he has been beaten and threatened. This story very much relates to Hitler and the Holocaust.

Genesis (beginning of the Bible)
Genesis is the first book, or beginning, of the Bible. It has 78 pages in it. The first part of Genesis tells about how God created the earth and the human race. Everything God did was good, but the first woman being Eve, and the first man being Adam, disobeyed Him in the Garden of Eden. God punished the world by bringing a great flood to the earth. Noah, who obeyed God, was commanded by Him to save his family and certain animals by building a large boat that they could stay safe in. The chapter goes on about how the new generation of people stopped worshipping God. Although some were blessed and had more descendants who helped the world become larger. Genesis concludes with the story of Joseph and how he became the governor of Egypt, who then he ends up dying.

Ancient Romans (quickie blog)

Ancient Romans, by Rosalie F. and Charles F. Baker III, is 253 pages long. It gives short biographies of fascinating men and women. Ancient Romans tells about the heroes and important/famous people of Ancient Rome. This novel also gives many facts about Roman emperors. I used this for my Ancient civilization project and it helped a lot on religion and how the Ancient Romans ruled. Each person had a different accomplishment in their life, which is what made this novel very interesting.

The Child of the Owl
Her dad's in the hospital, she has to live in a town that she does not know about, will she survive? Child of the Owl by Laurence Yep is a fiction book that tells about when Casey's dad, Barney, is in the hospital and tells her she has to live in China Town with her Paw-Paw (grandma). Casey must try and fit in. Pre-teen girls and people who would want to see a glimpse of the differences between Chinese and American culture.
I would recommend Child of the Owl because it has a good plot, and I like Casey and her relationship with her Paw-Paw, because it reminds me of my grandma and I. Although I found it hard to understand at some points, I just had to re-read it. The theme of this book is dealing with adversity. Casey has to live in China Town when she is not used to living there, so she has to deal with the changes.
Child of the Owl by Laurence Yep is a great book that tells about Casey's new life in China Town and the struggles she has to face. Overall this book is a,little hard to understand but it's very interesting and worth the reading.
