Child of the Owl by Laurence Yep is a 278 page book. The main character, Casey, is going to have to deal with a new life in China Town with her Paw-Paw because her dad, Barney, is in the hospital. She is going to have to try to fit in and realize what a great life she has ahead. Or is her life not going to be as good as she thinks?

Child of the Owl by Laurence Yep is a fiction book that tells about when Casey's dad, Barney, is in the hospital and tells her she has to live in China Town with her Paw-Paw (grandma). Casey must try and fit in. Pre-teen girls and people who would want to see a glimpse of the differences between Chinese and American culture.

I would recommend Child of the Owl because it has a good plot, and I like Casey and her relationship with her Paw-Paw, because it reminds me of my grandma and I. Although I found it hard to understand at some points, I just had to re-read it. The theme of this book is dealing with adversity. Casey has to live in China Town when she is not used to living there, so she has to deal with the changes.

Child of the Owl by Laurence Yep is a great book that tells about Casey's new life in China Town and the struggles she has to face. Overall this book is a,little hard to understand but it's very interesting and worth the reading.

All Eddie wanted for Christmas was a bike. In the 284 page book, The Christmas Sweater by Glenn Beck, Eddie's family is not very wealthy. They can't afford a bike, so instead Eddie gets a sweater that his mom handmade for him. Eddie doesn't like this present at all. His mother refuses to give him the bike, but Eddie knows that some Christmas he has to get one. He waits and waits, hoping to get that red Huffy bike with the black banana seat that he's always dreamed for. This book is a great Christmas novel that is very satisfying to read.

We Remember the Holocaust

We Remember the Holocaust is written by David A. Adler and has 104 pages. This book is interesting, but has a very horrifying subject, the Holocaust. It is about a lot of the people who were alive during the Holocaust. It tells of the terrifying things that happen and went on, but some people were lucky and survived. This book is about the prejudices against the jewish people.

Prejudice is the main theme of We Remember the Holocaust. The book tells how hitler and his followers discriminated against the Jews. The Nazis had so much hatred, that they were determined to kill all Jewish people. They treated the Jews horribly and put them in camps to be killed. They had strict rules for Jewish people that were unfair and cruel. The 104 page book, We Remember the Holocaust, is a heart wrenching book written by David A. Adler.

The Invention of Hugo Cabret

The Invention of Hugo Cabret is very well-written by Brian Selznick and has 530 pages in it. It is about a young boy named Hugo who's father died in the year 1931. He ends up staying with his alcoholic uncle who teaches him how to steal, since they have no money, and teaches him how to work clocks. Hugo ends up running away 1 day when his uncle doesn't come back home. Hugo has to learn to do things on his own. In this book Hugo is independent.

Hugo is very independent in The Invention of Hugo Cabret. He has no parents or money so he has to steal in order to survive. He is staying on his own and has to work the clocks since his uncle disappeared. One day after his father died, Hugo found a robot that he decided to keep. He tries to figure out a way to fix it. He does this by stealing mechanisms from the toy shop. These are all different ways to show that Hugo is very independent.

Boy of the Painted Cave Blog

Boy of the Painted Cave by Justin Denzel, has 158 pages filled with drama, adventures, and, action. The main characters in this story are Tao, Ram, and Greybeard with clan leader, Volt, as an antagonist. Tao is an unloved, bad-footed, 14 year old early man who wants to be a cave painter. In the story, cave painting is forbidden but Tao does it anyway. When he leaves the clan to go off on his own, he meets Greybeard, a cave painter and chosen one. Greybeard helps Tao become a real cave painter.

In Boy of the Painted Cave, the Secret Cavern has a big affect on the story. The clan believes that only the chosen one can paint in the Secret Cavern. In the story Tao commits a crime by painting in it, and he has to face Saxon, the sacred bull because of his fault.

Wringer Blog

Wringer ,a fiction story,by Jerry Spinelli, has 228 wonderfully written pages. It is about a 10 year old boy named Palmer, who does not want to become a wringer. A wringer is a boy who, on Pigeon Day, wrings the pigeons necks to take them out of their misery. No one in his town likes pigeons and would EVER keep them as pets. It just so happens, that one day before school, Palmer found a pigeon on his window sill. He knew he had to wring its neck, but he didn't want to, so he left it alone. The next day he found the pigeon again and kept it as a pet since it would never go away, he figured no one would find out, but he still kept it a secret. Will anyone ever find out, and if so, what will happen?
